When Amore, my 14-year-old Bichon, passed away, my heart was shattered. Losing her left such a deep emptiness in my life that I didn't know what to do with all the love I still had to give.

At that time, I didn't know anything about rescuing dogs. I only knew about finding a puppy from a breeder. As I searched for a local Bichon breeder, I found one just 8 miles from my home. What surprised me most was that it was right next to the hospital where Amore spent the last days of her life. It felt like more than a coincidence.

That's where I found Soul.

Soul received her name after I had a beautiful dream. In that dream, Amore came to me and told me it was okay to welcome another dog into my life. She also told me that from then on, we would communicate through our souls. When I brought my new Bichon home, I knew her name had to be Soul.

Even though Soul brought joy back into my life, I was still grieving Amore. During that time, I spoke with someone who believed they could communicate with animals who had passed away. They told me that one day Amore would come back to me as a bigger dog.

Life has a funny way of leading us where we're meant to be.

Not long after, I found myself drawn to rescuing dogs. Before I realized it, I had adopted a beautiful white Pit Bull and named him Buddy.
